Tuli raporttiä frendilta Lyleltä. (lyle kuvissa havaijipaidassa) Tässä alkukielellä

I went out there with Neil, Joe Momma, Magoo, and Justin. We all had a good time.

Wow, Nevada Bob's Chief sounded and ran great.

Lars was having ignition problems and still hadn't made a run by the time we left. He tried various combinations of different coils, rotors, etc with no luck. The bike would run good for about the first mile and then start missing. He sure had a good support crew and everyone was helping him as much as they could. I personally think it's his ignition module that warms up in the heat but what do I know?....

Gary was having magneto problems with his little single and didn't make a run. Nobody was sure if his cams were timed right either. FOE was helping him for the first day and Magoo and Joe Momma worked on it a little. It had a bad set of points in the mag for sure but that wasn't enough to cause his problems.

I saw Jim Mosher there with a double engine Scout and a regular Scout but I think they were on display and weren't there to run. That dual engine scout was a work of art. I only saw the bikes the first day and was working on Rocky's streamliner so I didn't have the chance to see them again or talk.

Neil brought his little 741 that he cobbled together just a few weeks prior to run. I got to be the first person to take it out. We got it going good but everyone was afraid to shift it out of second gear at about 60+ mph because the steering dampner needs some revamping. Next year he'll run it and I think he's got a good chance at a record. The engine was built by Pete (Joe Momma). Magoo and I were so inspired that we'll be bringing out our own Scouts once we finish them. Mine needs parts and work and of course the decision 741 or Sport Scout as I've got about equal parts for both. I'll say this, that 741 ran good, real good and pulled the gears that Neil had in it. It was in a little Indian single frame...

Kiwi's kid Ross sheared most of the teeth in one of the transmission gears and ran about 93 mph before the tranny let loose. We helped him load it up. Boy, there's some nice bikes in Kiwi's truck! It was nice talking to Mike again.

There was some kid there with a mid 40's Alhohol fueld Chief in a Indian factory special frame which was real real neat but he was having mag problems too until he discovered salt all over inside his Joe Hunt style mag. Then he started having some other problems. Alcohol is a whole new ballgame, not only with jetting but also it absorbs water from the atmosphere so who knows what his problem was. He seemed to be the only guy working on it.

Rocky's streamliner got further along than it ever had. But we didn't even try to get through tech inspection. On the second day we got a good lecture and some helpful advice from Dennis Manning and we decided to not try to run it until we sorted some other things out. But we got a lot of stuff done as Bonneville is the only time we all have a chance to get together as a team. It was almost an honor when Max's kid (of vincent streamliner fame) gave me a beer at the Motel parking lot.

I'll try to upload some photos on photobucket along with some videos over the next few days. One of my cameras blew out of my cutoff pocket when Magoo and I were passing some semi's on I-80 on the way back to the Motel. We got to the exit and Joe Momma who was following us on his 47 Chief was no longer behind us. Turns out he stopped to pick up a camera that flew of of my cutoff's pocket and got squashed by a truck but I still have a lot of good photos and video.

Over and out!

Jep,
